      <image:caption>2. Optional: Gently apply foam weather stripping to the perimeter of the fan's backside frame, starting and ending at the midpoint between the feet. The foam should go over the feet, half on the edge. Avoid stretching the foam, as the corners may fall off due to tension. Total foam used should be slightly less than 6'.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>3. Using the hot glue gun's lowest setting, gently reinforce the fan's outer rounded corners by squeezing the glue gun evenly and pushing the bead of glue in front of the tip as you apply. Avoid contact between the glue gun's metal tip and the foam, as the heat will melt the foam. (Optional: glue all around the outside perimeter of the foam to ensure the foam does not fall off)</image:caption>

      <image:title>Build Your Own</image:title>
      <image:caption>6. Orient the filter so that the exposed wires are facing up. Apply a triangle sticker label to a corner of the MERV-13 filter to ensure the label is blocking off air flow. Repeat for all four corners.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Build Your Own</image:title>
      <image:caption>7. Place the box fan upright on its feet. Take the the MERV-13 filter and orient it so that the air flow arrow is pointing towards the back of the fan. The exposed wire should not be visible, for it will be facing the back of the fan. Check all edges to make sure the filter is on top of the foam seal. There should not be any gaps between the filter and the foam. Once properly aligned, use masking tape to temporarily secure the filter in place.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Build Your Own</image:title>
      <image:caption>8. Lay the device on its side. If possible, use two people. Have each person take one end of the band and stretch the band around the fan, filter, and cardboard shroud. The band should sit right outside the fan's feet. Avoid shifting the filter, for this will break the foam seal. Repeat on the other side and make sure the bands are square and parallel. For easy transport, wrap the cord and slip under one of the bands.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>A social media post from Bay Area Workers Support that reads: "Because of you, we hit our goal and raised $2,000 to get self-defense kits into the hands of QTBIPOC street-based SWers. That is real, material safety you helped create. We’re not stopping here. We’re pushing to raise another $1,000 so we can reach more folks, provide more kits, and keep our communities safer on the streets where it matters most. Huge love to our collaborators at @savelyonmartin and @bfcoutreach for building this with us, and deep thanks to @chumanityc for hooking us up with high-quality masks. This is what mutual aid looks like: people showing up for each other. Every share, every dollar, every signal boost helps us get life-saving resources directly to the people who need them. Please keep donating, keep spreading the word, and keep holding each other with this kind of care. Love is harm reduction ♥️ Solidarity Forever!"</image:caption>

      <image:title>DIY Drink Valves</image:title>
      <image:caption>Step 1: Figure out where you'd like your valve to be on your mask! Make sure it's not on or touching any seams. Draw a little star or x so you know where it should be.</image:caption>

      <image:title>DIY Drink Valves</image:title>
      <image:caption>Step 2: Once you’ve decided on a spot, place the washer so that the spot is centered within the hole in the washer. Use a pen or marker to trace around the inner ring of the washer.</image:caption>
    </image:image>

      <image:title>DIY Drink Valves</image:title>
      <image:caption>Step 3: Cut out the circle! It might help to fold the mask in half so that the traced circle looks like a half-moon.</image:caption>

      <image:title>DIY Drink Valves</image:title>
      <image:caption>Step 4: Starting from the inside of the mask, push the valve through the hole you just cut until it peeks out from the exterior of the mask.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5ec5bb20ca73ae4300cda719/3f2a64a2-a514-4a47-b1e8-e8938d19b8ff/7.jpg</image:loc>
      <image:title>DIY Drink Valves</image:title>
      <image:caption>Step 5: On the outside of the mask, place the washer over the valve. Ensure that both the mask and valve have NO puckering, bending, damage, or gapping. On some masks made of a thinner material, like the FLO or Readimask, two washers may be needed to create a proper seal (request another kit in this case!).</image:caption>
